The Fiji Professional Golfers' Association was formed in July 1977 when four people, P.D. Clutton, Eddie Emerson, Bose Lutunatabua and Veramu Rokotavaga, agreed to be bound by a drafted set of rules governing entry, training, conduct and management.

The four people mentioned here, became foundation Members of the Association with P.D. Clutton and E. Emerson being elected to executive positions.

Since that time, the Association has been recognized by overseas PGAs and the International Golf Association who have issued invitations to the Fiji P.G.A. to supply players for participation in the World Cup.

It has been of great satisfaction to the members that, whilst attending the 1977 World Cup in Manila, Philippines, they made contact with the promoters of the World Amateur Teams Championships, re-kindled heir interest in Fiji and instigated fresh discussions with eventually led to Fiji hosting the 1978 Championships.

During the two years of their training, Bose Lutunatabua and Veramu Rokotavaga have competed professionally in seven countries. With Janif Khan and Arun Kumar due to complete their training in July 1980, the Association is growing towards the objective of having trained professionals available for appointment to all Golf Clubs throughout Fiji.
